IDEA (Internet of Distributed Energy Architecture) is a type of decentralised power system in which smart distributed control is implemented through energy transactions between its users.
As part of one of NTI’s projects, a reference architecture for the Internet of Energy was developed — IDEA.
The Internet of Energy is a cyber-physical infrastructure for information systems based on decentralised intelligent (robotic) control of energy systems, energy hubs, power supply systems and integration of distributed active energy consumers, distributed energy sources and energy flexibility.
Transactive energy
A system for implementing the commercial component of energy transactions, involving the automatic formation and secure storage of smart contracts that record the parameters of energy transactions, verification of their execution, financial payment under fulfilled obligations, recording of discrepancies and disputes, use of data for their resolution and performance of clearing functions are fully automated
Internet of things
A system for implementing the information component of energy transactions, involving machine-to-machine (M2M) interaction and exchange of all the necessary information and control signals for energy transactions between energy facilities and their software agents
Neural grid
A system for implementing the physical component of energy transactions, which, if necessary, provides for decentralised regulation of frequency and power balance, management of power flows in the energy system to form the mode of power transmission necessary for the implementation of energy transactions and maintain its static and dynamic stability under conditions of simultaneous implementation of multiple energy transactions

Reliable and flexible grids. As the basis of EnergyNet. It is impossible to create new markets without creating grids that meet fundamentally different performance indicators in terms of reliability, availability, cost of ownership, openness, and adaptability to new market participants.
Distributed power generation. As a potential option for the development of new EnergyNet markets. Based on the principles of integration into the grid of distributed generation, storage units, and microgrids, and the creation of virtual power plants to reduce the peak power reserve.
Consumer services. As a prospect for further development of EnergyNet. New types of energy services that can be an alternative to the functions of familiar energy market entities with network software applications for end consumers.
Infrastructure Centre
The organisation responsible for the implementation of measures to develop the EnergyNet NTI direction.
The functions of the EnergyNet IC are performed by the North-West Centre for Strategic Research based on the decision of the Bidding Commission established under Resolution No.402 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 03 April 2018, Minutes No.2 dated 17 October 2018.
